Mayor Bass Announces First Certificate of Occupancy Issued For Home Being Rebuilt in Pacific Palisades

Los Angeles, CALocal News

Mayor Karen Bass announced the issuance of the first Certificate of Occupancy for a rebuilt home in Pacific Palisades, marking a significant recovery milestone for the community. The newly completed home, developed by Thomas James Homes, took roughly six months to rebuild. Following the Palisades Fire, Mayor Bass implemented Emergency Executive Order 1 to expedite the rebuilding process, resulting in permit approvals occurring nearly three times faster than prior to the wildfires. To date, over 340 rebuilding projects have begun construction, and the city has approved more than 1,300 rebuilding plans across 650 addresses. Additionally, over 1,070 permits have been issued for 540+ addresses, showcasing the urgency of the recovery efforts.

The city is also fast-tracking the rebuilding of commercial properties under Emergency Executive Order 10, which streamlines the process while maintaining adherence to local development standards. As rebuilding remains a personal choice for many families, the city continues to support the community’s recovery efforts. The latest permitting statistics are available on the city’s dashboard, providing transparency and updates on progress.
