Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass endorsed the City Council's Public Safety Committee for advancing Jaime Moore's nomination as the next Fire Chief of the Los Angeles Fire Department. The committee praised Moore's extensive experience, having served in the LAFD for over 30 years and held leadership roles in managing wildland fires. The full City Council is set to vote on his nomination this Friday. Moore's agenda includes preparations for major disasters and upcoming global events like the FIFA World Cup 2026 and the 2028 Olympics. Councilmember John Lee expressed confidence in Moore's leadership as vital for the city's safety.

If confirmed, he would be the second permanent Latino Chief and the first bilingual Fire Chief in LAFD history. Moore has received recognition for his innovative approach to data management within the department. His nomination represents a significant step toward reforming the LAFD’s operations and culture.
