Mayor Bass Announces First Approvals Under New Standard Plan Pilot Program to Further Expedite Palisades Rebuilding

Los Angeles, CALocal News

Mayor Karen Bass announced a major advancement in rebuilding efforts in Pacific Palisades with the first approvals under the Standard Plan Pilot Program. This program offers pre-approved, code-compliant designs for single-family homes, significantly reducing the time and costs associated with permitting. As a result, rebuilding permits are now approved nearly three times faster than pre-wildfire rates, with over 1,200 plans approved for more than 600 addresses. Currently, more than 340 projects have started construction, and the city is witnessing an influx of new rebuilding plans daily. The first permits were issued in just 57 days, showcasing a marked improvement compared to previous wildfire recovery efforts.

In addition to homes, Mayor Bass has also focused on expediting the rebuilding of commercial properties through emergency measures. These actions aim to maintain administrative efficiency and economic relief while preserving community standards. The ongoing efforts underscore the city's commitment to revitalizing the Palisades and supporting affected families.
