Mayor Bass Directs City Crews To Prepare Ahead of Wet Weather Forecast Evacuation Warning Issued for Recent Burn Scar Areas

Los Angeles, CALocal News

The City of Los Angeles has issued an Evacuation Warning for burn scar areas as a moderate storm is set to hit from November 13 to 16, with peak rainfall expected Friday evening. The LAPD is reaching out to about 60 vulnerable properties to ensure residents are prepared for potential debris flows and power outages. The Emergency Operations Center will activate at 6:00 PM on November 13, with coordination among LAPD, LAFD, and other departments to manage impacts effectively. Following January's wildfires, Mayor Bass ordered extensive mitigation measures, including the installation of 13,000 feet of K-rail and sandbags in Pacific Palisades. The LAFD will increase staffing levels to monitor the forecast and respond to emergencies.

The Los Angeles Department of Water and Power stands ready to address any power outages. Resources, including sandbags and safety information, are available for residents, particularly those near waterways. Angelenos are encouraged to sign up for emergency alerts and report any hazards through city services.
