Inside Safe Brings More Angelenos Inside From Longstanding Encampment Near Koreatown
Mayor Karen Bass announced the successful relocation of more Angelenos from a longstanding encampment near Koreatown as part of her Inside Safe program. This coordinated effort, in collaboration with Council District 10, aimed to provide life-saving services and restore community integrity. Bass highlighted the program's effectiveness in saving lives and tackling homelessness with compassion and urgency. The city recently lifted a State of Emergency declaration, which facilitated the launch of Inside Safe and led to a historic two-year reduction in homelessness, including a 17-percent drop in street homelessness. The program has resolved over 100 encampments, aiding thousands in finding stable housing.
Bass’s administration is also accelerating the construction of over 30,000 affordable housing units and implementing an anti-eviction program. These initiatives underscore the city’s commitment to addressing homelessness and preventing future crises. The ongoing efforts represent a significant shift in Los Angeles's approach to homelessness and community support.
