Mayor Bass Joins Key Stakeholders and Public Safety Officials in Downtown L.A. to Inform Revitalization Effort
Mayor Karen Bass conducted a walk with Downtown L. A. stakeholders and public safety officials to discuss revitalization efforts in the area. She stressed the importance of engaging with local experiences to shape the city’s redevelopment strategy. Bass expressed gratitude to the Central City Association and LAPD for their collaborative efforts.
Key initiatives include the expansion of the L. A. Convention Center, projected to create over 15,000 jobs and boost visitor spending by more than $150 million annually. The LAPD is enhancing its presence through foot and bike patrols to ensure public safety. Additionally, a coordinated cleanup effort is underway to address graffiti and trash in major streets.
Mental health teams are being deployed in priority neighborhoods, such as the Historic Core. These comprehensive actions aim to restore Downtown L. A. as a vibrant cultural and economic center ahead of the 2028 Olympic Games.
