Mayor Karen Bass issued Emergency Executive Order 10 to expedite the rebuilding of commercial properties in Pacific Palisades after the devastating Palisades Fire. The order streamlines the permitting process for commercial projects, allowing businesses to recover more swiftly while preserving community character. Key provisions include expedited reviews for eligible projects and a five-year extension on land use entitlements, providing flexibility to property owners. Additionally, a new self-certification program enables licensed architects to certify tenant improvements, facilitating quicker business operations. The initiative has already resulted in nearly 300 homes starting construction and more than 1,075 rebuilding plans approved.

The city aims to support small businesses that form the community's backbone while ensuring adherence to existing zoning and planning standards. Mayor Bass's actions reflect a commitment to revitalizing the area while maintaining its unique identity.
