Mayor Bass Announces Changes In Communications Office

Mayor Karen Bass announced that Deputy Mayor of Communications Zach Seidl will leave the Mayor’s Office for a private sector role after 10 years of service. Seidl has played a key role in navigating strategic communications during pivotal events such as the pandemic and police reform. He will be succeeded by Samuel Jean, who brings a wealth of experience in crisis management and media relations to the position of Interim Communications Director. Mayor Bass praised Seidl's contributions and expressed her best wishes for his future endeavors. Jean’s background includes serving as a strategic communications advisor to various sectors, including nonprofits and grassroots political campaigns.

His appointment comes as the city continues to tackle pressing issues like homelessness and public safety. Seidl's last day is scheduled for October 17, and the administration has already begun the search for his permanent successor. This transition underscores the city's ongoing commitment to effective communication and addressing local challenges.
