The National Weather Service has issued a Flood Watch for burn scar areas in Los Angeles, effective from 8:00 PM on October 13 through the afternoon of October 14, with peak rainfall expected Tuesday morning. An Evacuation Warning will be in effect from 10:00 PM tonight until 6:00 AM on October 15 for residents in the Pacific Palisades, Sunset, and Hurst burn scar areas. Mayor Bass emphasized the city’s preparedness, reporting that resources, including strike teams and helicopters, have been strategically deployed to mitigate risks from debris flows. The Los Angeles Fire Department remains on alert, collaborating with state resources to respond to emergencies. More than 13,000 feet of K-rail and sandbags are currently in place to protect vulnerable neighborhoods.
The city's Emergency Operations Center has been activated, ensuring personnel are ready to respond to any incidents. Angelenos are encouraged to pick up sandbags and sign up for emergency alerts. The city also provides outreach to inform residents about safety measures during the inclement weather.
