Uniting for Americas Games Mayor Bass, Mayor Holt Sign Agreement Committing to Continued Collaboration To Deliver World-Class 2028 Olympic Games
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and Oklahoma City Mayor David Holt signed a Memorandum of Understanding to enhance collaboration for the 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games. Oklahoma City will host canoe slalom and softball events at RIVERSPORT and other elite facilities, marking a significant partnership. Mayor Bass stated that these Games will be “America’s Games,” emphasizing the benefits for both cities through sustainable investments. Mayor Holt expressed gratitude for the collaboration, noting it provides a unique opportunity for Oklahoma City. The MOU focuses on legacy, inclusion, innovation, and coordination, aiming to deliver world-class experiences for residents and athletes.
Mayor Bass also addressed the homelessness crisis during the U. S. Conference of Mayors meeting, highlighting a two-year decline in rates. The partnership reflects a commitment to making smart investments that benefit both cities for generations. The agreement was publicly announced in June 2024 and approved by the Los Angeles City Council on March 28, 2025.
