Mayor Bass Signs Final Approval of Convention Center Project, Achieving a Major Milestone in DTLA Revitalization Efforts

Mayor Karen Bass approved the final plans for the modernization and expansion of the Convention Center, a pivotal project in revitalizing Downtown Los Angeles. This initiative aims to attract larger conventions, enhance tourism, and create thousands of union jobs during and after construction. To support public safety during the project, the LAPD will deploy foot patrols and bike officers, while trained mental health teams will focus on areas like the Historic Core. Bass underscored the importance of this project in restoring Downtown's vibrancy and economic health. She thanked the City Council for their partnership and stressed the need for fiscal oversight during construction.

The Convention Center expansion has been a topic of discussion for over a decade, with Bass championing it through several key milestones. The groundbreaking is anticipated to start in October. This project represents a significant investment in the city's future and a commitment to improving public spaces.
