Mayor Bass and LAPD Announce Successful Take Down of Burglary Crew Responsible For Nearly 100 Break-Ins in LA

Mayor Karen Bass and LAPD Chief Jim McDonnell revealed the takedown of a burglary crew linked to 93 break-ins in Los Angeles over the past two years. The operation showcased effective collaboration among detectives and law enforcement agencies across various jurisdictions. Mayor Bass stated that the arrest is part of a broader strategy to enhance community safety, which has seen homicides reach a 60-year low recently. Her approach combines law enforcement efforts with proactive community solutions to prevent crime. Earlier this year, the Mayor reported a 45% decrease in gang-related homicides in designated Gang Reduction and Youth Development (GRYD) zones.

The GRYD zones also experienced a 56% reduction in gang-related homicides compared to 2022. These initiatives aim to protect families and businesses, reinforcing a commitment to public safety. The LAPD plans to continue targeting organized crime and repeat offenders to maintain neighborhood safety.
