Los Angeles Is United Westside L.A. Leaders and Community Members Stand With Mayor Bass In Calling to End Reckless and Discriminatory Raids

Los Angeles, CALocal News

Mayor Karen Bass and local leaders in Los Angeles are urging an end to federal immigration raids, which they label as reckless and discriminatory. These operations have generated widespread fear and disruption among residents, affecting family lives, businesses, and the local economy. Bass stated that every part of the city feels the impact, and the raids are unconstitutional, promising to hold the administration accountable for these actions. Councilwoman Yaroslavsky echoed these sentiments, emphasizing that the raids impact all Angelenos and contradict the city’s immigrant-friendly values. Since the raids began, Bass has signed an executive directive to bolster support for impacted communities and has coordinated legal efforts that resulted in a temporary restraining order.

The city’s administration is currently seeking to challenge the federal government’s actions in higher courts. Community leaders, including faith leaders and business owners, have rallied together to oppose these tactics. The city remains committed to protecting immigrant rights and revitalizing areas affected by the chaos.
