ICYMI Inside Safe Brings Angelenos Inside From Long-Standing Encampment Near Businesses and Metro Rail Station
Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass reported that over 45 unhoused individuals were relocated from a longstanding encampment in Highland Park through the Inside Safe initiative. This operation, a joint effort between two Council Districts, provided essential life-saving services while enhancing community accessibility and safety. Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez noted the urgency of connecting unhoused residents to housing, particularly amid rising temperatures that increase health risks. Councilmember Hugo Soto-Martinez emphasized the importance of collaborative solutions across council district borders to address homelessness. Since the program's launch, Inside Safe has successfully completed over 100 operations, bringing thousands of Angelenos indoors last year alone.
Mayor Bass has been vocal about the necessity of improving homelessness services and ensuring they are cost-effective. The city continues to see reductions in tent encampments throughout all council districts. This initiative not only aims to improve public health and safety but also seeks to restore the community for residents and businesses alike.
