Dec. 17-18 high wind warning for Pacific County

The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning for Pacific County and the north Oregon coast, effective from noon on December 17 to 4 a. m. on December 18, 2024. This warning is in response to an incoming storm expected to disrupt travel plans during the busy Christmas season. Forecasts indicate south winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts potentially reaching up to 60 mph, particularly impacting coastal beaches and headlands.

Towns such as Naselle, Astoria, Raymond, Tokeland, Ocean Park, and Long Beach are highlighted in the advisory. Additionally, there is a 20% chance that wind gusts could exceed 58 mph in inland coastal communities. Residents are reminded to prepare for possible power outages and travel delays, and to stay informed about weather conditions as the holiday season approaches.
