Longtime sheriff's office K-9 dies

The Pacific County Sheriff's Office is mourning the loss of K-9 Ciko, who passed away on November 20, 2024, after battling multiple health issues. Ciko had been an invaluable member of the force since 2014, contributing to various law enforcement operations, including a notable arrest in 2019. Following a veterinary examination on November 14, it was revealed that Ciko had developed a new hernia, which ultimately led to his euthanasia. His previous health challenges included surgery for another hernia in December 2023, along with chronic hip pain and arthritis that affected his ability to serve. This article emphasizes the critical role of K-9 units in enhancing public safety and the emotional impact of losing a dedicated service animal.

The Pacific County community deeply feels this loss, recognizing Ciko's contributions to law enforcement.
