Met PC jailed over sexual behaviour towards girl

London, UKCrime

Che Homersham, a former Metropolitan Police constable, was sentenced to six months in prison for sexual misconduct involving a 16-year-old girl. The incidents occurred after he met the girl during a domestic case in December 2018, when he drove her to secluded areas under the pretext of taking a statement. Despite her refusal, he kissed her and made inappropriate advances. In a concerning follow-up, he texted her, stating he would pick her up from school for sexual activity. Following his arrest in December 2023, he resigned from the police force in January 2024.

Judge Christopher Hehir condemned Homersham's actions as a severe breach of professional conduct, noting the vulnerability of the victim. The case has sparked discussions about the need for greater accountability and trust within law enforcement. Authorities have stated that Homersham would have faced dismissal had he not already resigned.
