Man accused of double murder admits killing one man
Yostin Andres Mosquera, a 35-year-old Colombian national, admitted to the manslaughter of Albert Alfonso during a hearing at the Old Bailey but denies murdering Alfonso and Paul Longworth. Their remains were discovered in suitcases near the Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol, prompting an investigation last July. The prosecution rejected Mosquera's plea, ensuring he will face trial for both alleged murders. Mosquera confirmed his identity and entered the plea through a Spanish interpreter. He was arrested at Bristol Temple Meads train station shortly after the human remains were found.
Longworth, 71, was British, while Alfonso, 62, originally from France, had obtained British citizenship. The trial's commencement on Wednesday highlights ongoing concerns about violent crime in the Shepherd's Bush area. This case has captured public attention, emphasizing the need for effective law enforcement responses to such incidents.
