Zombie knife footage shown at mum's murder trial

London, UKLocal News

Cher Maximen's tragic death, resulting from a stabbing at the Notting Hill Carnival, was highlighted in court through police bodycam footage presented during the trial of Shakeil Thibou. On August 25, known as "family day," a violent altercation caused Maximen to become separated from her three-year-old daughter, ultimately leading to her being pushed to the ground. In a desperate attempt to defend herself, she allegedly clutched Thibou's coat, who is accused of intentionally thrusting a "zombie knife" into her groin. Lead prosecutor Edward Brown KC emphasized the chaotic atmosphere as carnival-goers were seen dancing moments before the violence erupted. Det Con Kevin Newton testified about his extensive review of the footage, which provided critical evidence for the case.

Thibou, 20, from Kensington, denies murder and attempted murder charges, as well as possessing an offensive weapon. His brothers, also facing charges, are accused of assaulting an emergency worker during the incident. The trial continues, shedding light on the severe implications of knife crime in public spaces.
