West London Bus Workers Postpone Strike Amid Ongoing Pay Dispute

London, UKLocal News

Planned strike action by West London bus workers has been postponed following positive discussions with First Bus London. The more than 350 staff members at the Westbourne Park depot were set to strike on November 26-28 over dissatisfaction with a below-inflation pay rise. Unite union members previously participated in industrial action from November 14-18, highlighting ongoing tensions regarding compensation. Unite's general secretary Sharon Graham condemned First Bus for its treatment of workers, stating it reflects an "utter disregard" for their contributions. First Bus expressed relief at the cancellation of the strike and emphasized the disruption caused by industrial action.

The union aims to negotiate a better pay offer with full back pay during a meeting with Acas on December 2. Transport for London confirmed that bus services are expected to run normally in the coming days, alleviating concerns for commuters. This dispute underscores broader issues of labor relations and worker treatment in the transportation sector.
