Strikes averted after TfL agrees pay deal with RMT

London, UKLocal News

The RMT trade union has finalized a three-year pay deal for Tube workers that includes a 3. 4% pay increase effective from April 2025, along with guaranteed raises of 3% in the second year and 2. 5% in the third year. The agreement also introduces "fatigue-friendly" rosters and a consistent Boxing Day payment of £400. RMT general secretary Eddie Dempsey stated that the deal reflects the effectiveness of strike action and strong negotiations.

The agreement comes after five days of significant disruptions from strikes in September, lifting the union's threat of further industrial action. A spokesperson for Transport for London (TfL) welcomed the union's acceptance, labeling the multi-year offer as fair and affordable. TfL also confirmed that no changes to working hours were proposed in conjunction with the pay offer. The deal provides certainty for workers regarding pay for several years, which is crucial in a fluctuating economic environment. This resolution highlights the ongoing dialogue between unions and management in addressing worker concerns in the transportation sector.
