Glam rock legend Marc Bolan was commemorated with a blue plaque outside his former home in Maida Vale, London, where he penned numerous hits. This unveiling coincided with the release of "I'm Dazed," a previously unheard T. Rex track recorded in 1975. Musician Rick Wakeman expressed that Bolan would have cherished the recognition and could have even written a song about it. Petroc Trelawny, a member of the English Heritage blue plaques panel, described Bolan as a visionary who transformed the musical landscape of the 1970s.

Bolan resided at the address from late 1970 until he moved in 1972 due to overwhelming fan attention. During his career, T. Rex achieved 11 top ten hits between 1970 and 1973, including "Hot Love" and "20th Century Boy. " Bolan's legacy is honored alongside other music icons like Freddie Mercury and Jimi Hendrix through the blue plaques scheme, which has recognized significant figures since 1866. The scheme is regarded as the oldest of its kind globally, celebrating cultural contributions across various fields.
