'Faeces' attacks on Golders Green synagogues prompt police search

London, UKLocal News

A man recorded on CCTV vandalizing two synagogues in Golders Green, north London, has prompted a police investigation into anti-Semitic acts. The perpetrator smeared a substance identified as faeces and urine on the synagogues and threw liquid at a nearby school. Det Supt Tony Bellis described the incidents as “revolting and appalling,” urging the public to assist in locating the suspect. Shomrim, a neighborhood watch group, provided police with CCTV footage, emphasizing the attacks as deliberate hate crimes against the Jewish community. The Metropolitan Police are categorizing the incidents as religiously motivated criminal damage.

Community leaders have condemned the actions, asserting that no one should face such hatred in their places of worship. The attacks have raised concerns about safety among local worshippers and the broader Jewish community. Authorities continue to seek information to bring those responsible to justice.
