Sound artwork launched at London Waterloo station

London, UKLocal News

Transport for London unveiled Rory Pilgrim's sound artwork, "Go Find Miracles," at Waterloo station, featuring music and spoken word elements partly written by prisoners from HMP/YOI Portland. The 10-minute piece plays on weekdays until July 25 along the moving walkway linking the Jubilee and Northern lines. This project, a collaboration with the Feminist Library and the Mayor of London's culture program, emphasizes the historical connections between London and the Isle of Portland in Dorset. Eleanor Pinfield, head of Art on the Underground, highlighted the unique voices brought together through this project to consider everyday miracles. The artwork explores the law's impact on lives and environments, recorded in an underground quarry and on an unused Jubilee line platform.

Holly Upton, neurodiversity support manager at HMP/YOI Portland, expressed enthusiasm for the project's positive influence on both staff and prisoners. The piece serves as a poignant reminder of the cultural and historical ties between different regions. Pilgrim's innovative approach fosters community engagement and dialogue through art.
