Carnival chairman Ian Comfort has requested government funding to bolster safety measures. A report by Met Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley stated that the lack of funding for additional stewards could hinder effective crowd management. The cost of policing the 2023 Carnival reached £11.

7 million, with an average of 60 officers injured annually. Hill mentioned that the event is marred by a "handful of criminals" who disrupt the vibrant atmosphere.
