Assistant Fire Management Officer Matt Kennedy highlighted that the Wenatchee River Ranger District is entering the fire season with a standard crew size, though slightly short-staffed.

Key partnerships, such as those with the Cascadia Conservation District and Fire District #3, were emphasized for their vital roles in providing resources to property owners. These agencies offer programs like free wood-chipping and home assessments, aiming to create defensible spaces over the next five years. Emergency Management Specialist Rich Magnussen stressed the importance of the Everbridge alert system, encouraging residents to enable location services on their phones for timely notifications. The workshop aimed to prepare the community comprehensively, ensuring that residents are equipped with the necessary knowledge and tools to handle potential wildfire scenarios.
