Cascade High School students honor veterans with annual assembly
Cascade High School hosted its annual Veterans Day assembly on November 10, honoring local veterans through music, poetry, and reflection. The program opened with the National Anthem, followed by performances of “In Flanders Fields” and the “Armed Forces Medley,” inviting audience participation. Guest speaker Gen. Mike Worden, a retired U. S.
Air Force general, shared reflections and emphasized the importance of civic engagement and service. He urged students to study history and civics to appreciate and protect their freedoms. The assembly also recognized CHS staff and graduates who served in the military, along with students planning military careers. A Flag Folding Ceremony explained the significance of each fold, while students wrote letters of gratitude for service members, contributing to care packages by Operation Gratitude. This assembly reflects the school’s dedication to honoring veterans and instilling a sense of community service among students.
Such events play a vital role in connecting students with the sacrifices made for their freedoms.
