Wards Lake Park to close Jan. 7, 2025 - City of Lakewood

Lakewood, WALocal News

Wards Lake Park will be closed to the public beginning January 7, 2025, as part of a significant renovation initiative endorsed by the Lakewood City Council. The $3. 2 million project, awarded to Redside Construction, aims to enhance the park's facilities and overall experience for visitors. Key improvements include a new ADA-accessible loop trail featuring a 170-foot bridge over the lake and a ten-foot-wide paved trail system. The renovation will also introduce a modern playground, picnic shelter, and a pump bike track, along with a new restroom facility and a bird blind for wildlife observation.

An off-leash dog park and neighborhood playground are also part of the upgrades, which are expected to be completed by November 2025. Residents are advised to respect all closure signage during construction for their safety and that of the construction workers. This initiative demonstrates Lakewood's commitment to enhancing community recreational spaces, making them more accessible and enjoyable for everyone. The improvements reflect a proactive approach to public infrastructure, aiming to boost community engagement and outdoor activities.
