This initiative, conducted in collaboration with the Clover Park School District, seeks to celebrate these individuals during Black History Month and raise awareness of their contributions. Each week throughout February, the campaign will spotlight a different hero, culminating in a special presentation by the Lakewood City Council. In conjunction with this campaign, the Lakewood City Council recently revealed the recipients of the Larry Saunders Service Award, recognizing significant community service efforts. This year, Larry Woods, Jr.

and the Kiwanis Club of Clover Park were honored for their dedication to local initiatives. Residents are encouraged to learn more about these heroes via the City of Lakewood’s social media channels or by signing up for updates. The campaign aims to inspire the community and foster a greater appreciation for the contributions of Black and African American leaders.
