The City Shares Survey Results and Next Steps

Lake Forest Park, WALocal News

In November 2024, Lake Forest Park conducted a survey that engaged 17% of its residents, with 79% expressing confidence in the city's direction. This feedback highlights a strong partnership between the city and its residents, even amid significant budget challenges. The survey revealed that costs for essential services are climbing faster than revenue, with the city limited to a 1% annual revenue increase. Key areas of concern include a projected shortfall of nearly $500,000 annually, despite nearly $500,000 in cuts made in recent years. Residents prioritized maintaining police services, keeping parks and trails well-maintained, improving sidewalks around schools, and hiring a grant writer to secure additional funding.

To address the budget shortfall, the City Council is considering a temporary levy, though no decisions have been finalized. The city emphasizes transparency in this process, promising opportunities for resident input. For more details on the survey findings, residents are encouraged to review the Lake Forest Park Community Survey Presentation.
