Reminder No Campaigning on the Levy Measure During Council Meetings

Lake Forest Park, WALocal News

Washington law (RCW 42. 17A. 555) prohibits campaigning for or against ballot measures during City Council meetings. As a result, comments regarding the proposed levy lid lift are not allowed during the Public Comment period. Residents are encouraged to express their views using personal resources outside of city platforms.

City Clerk Matt McLean is available for questions related to this policy at mmclean@cityoflfp. gov. This regulation aims to maintain neutrality in public meetings and prevent the misuse of city facilities for political purposes. Such restrictions help ensure that local government remains focused on community issues without external campaign pressures. Residents should be aware of these guidelines to effectively participate in civic discourse.

This law underscores the importance of preserving the integrity of public meetings.
