Lake Forest Park, WALocal News

Lake Forest Park residents are invited to participate in two information sessions about a proposed six-year police and public safety levy on the November 2025 ballot. The sessions will be held on October 18 at 9:00 a. m. and October 22 at 6:00 p. m.

at City Hall. The City Council pushed forward this measure after a community survey showed that public safety is the top priority for residents. Rising costs for police and related services, coupled with a nearly 24% inflation increase over the past four years, have made sustaining these services challenging. The proposed levy would set a rate of $0. 24 per $1,000 of assessed property value, starting in 2026.

Tax exemptions will be available for qualifying low-income seniors, disabled veterans, and residents with disabilities. This initiative aims to maintain essential services such as 911 dispatch and police staffing. Residents can visit the city’s website for more information or contact the City Administrator with questions.
