The City of Kirkland is launching free Mental Health First Aid classes to empower community members with vital skills for recognizing and responding to mental health crises. Scheduled for March 21 and March 28 at the Kirkland Justice Center, these classes are open to individuals residing or working in King County. Led by certified instructors, the interactive training will cover risk factors and warning signs associated with mental health issues, reinforcing the message that recovery is achievable. Participants will learn a structured five-step action plan for assisting individuals in distress and connecting them to professional support. Councilmember Neal Black emphasized the crucial role of community members in identifying those struggling with mental health challenges.

The initiative reflects Kirkland's commitment to enhancing community safety and mental health awareness. Registration is mandatory, with limited space available, indicating the high demand for such essential training.
