Kenmore to Celebrate Juneteenth with Community Event on June 19, 2024

On June 19, 2024, from 3 PM to 7 PM, Kenmore Town Square will host a vibrant Juneteenth celebration, coinciding with the Kenmore Farmers Market. The event will start with a welcome from the Mayor and a Juneteenth Proclamation by Ayva Thomas, the Interim Executive Director of Racial and Educational Justice of the Northshore School District. Congresswoman DelBene will also speak on the significance of this historic day. Attendees can enjoy performances from the Kenmore Elementary African Drumming Group and participate in a community drumming circle led by Dounia Djembe. The event will include craft activities and educational resources to promote awareness of African American history and culture, with local food vendors like HP Smokehouse and Simply Amazing Treats providing tasty options.

Local groups, including the Inglemoor High School Black Student Union and the City of Kenmore DEIA Advisory Committee, will also participate, emphasizing unity and inclusion within the community.
