Rechannelization Work on 68th Avenue to Improve Traffic Flow in Kenmore

Kenmore, WALocal News

The City of Kenmore is set to begin rechannelization work on 68th Avenue from 175th Street to 181st Street starting July 22, 2024. This initiative aims to improve traffic safety and operations between downtown Kenmore and Bothell Way. Night closures on July 22 and 23 are planned to minimize disruption during the construction. For northbound traffic, the rightmost lane will be designated for buses and right-turning vehicles, while the second lane will continue to allow through traffic. Southbound traffic will be streamlined to a single receiving lane at the intersection, enhancing efficiency.

The project is expected to bring multiple benefits, including reduced conflicts, improved transit speed, increased downtown parking, and shorter pedestrian crossing distances. Residents can view a visual diagram of the changes for a clearer understanding of the new layout. This rechannelization is part of Kenmore's broader strategy to enhance the safety and functionality of its roadways.
