Issaquah, WALocal News

The City of Issaquah is set to launch Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training classes, starting on February 23 and March 18, 2025. This initiative aims to equip community members with vital skills to respond effectively during emergencies when professional services may not be immediately available. The comprehensive curriculum includes topics such as emergency preparedness, fire safety, and light search and rescue, blending lectures, videos, and hands-on exercises. Due to high interest, both classes have reached full capacity, but individuals can still sign up for the waitlist to secure a spot for future sessions. The training is offered at no cost, underscoring Issaquah's dedication to enhancing community resilience.

A final disaster simulation is scheduled for April 12, allowing participants to apply their newfound knowledge in a practical setting. Interested individuals can find more information and register through the Issaquah CERT website. This program not only prepares individuals but also fosters a spirit of community cooperation and safety.
