Solar and Green Power Initiatives

Issaquah, WALocal News

Issaquah is actively pursuing green energy initiatives as part of its Year of Climate Action, which is highlighting sustainability throughout March. The city has introduced the solarize campaign, aimed at encouraging residents to adopt solar energy by providing discounted prices and access to vetted local installers. This program emphasizes the use of high-quality, Washington-made solar equipment, making it an appealing option for homeowners. For renters or those hesitant to install solar panels, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) offers a Green Power program that allows individuals to offset their electricity use starting at just $4 per month. Notably, PSE has promised to donate a solar panel project to the city if they reach a target of 300 new enrollments by April, adding urgency to the campaign.

Both initiatives are designed to foster community engagement in renewable energy solutions and contribute to local sustainability goals. Through these programs, Issaquah is not only addressing climate change but also building a more resilient and environmentally conscious community. The city’s focus on green initiatives underscores its commitment to creating a sustainable future for its residents.
