During a community safety meeting on May 16, 2024, local officials addressed wildfire preparedness and crime trends in Issaquah Highlands. Emergency manager Jared Schneider warned of increased wildfire risks this summer, advising residents to prepare emergency kits and sign up for Alert King County for timely updates. Cat Robinson from Eastside Fire & Rescue stressed the importance of home assessments to reduce wildfire ignition risks. The Issaquah Police Department reported a significant decrease in violent crimes, with assaults down by 42. 9%.

However, property crimes have risen, largely due to increased shoplifting incidents. The police noted arrests of organized crime groups that had previously impacted the area, resulting in fewer residential burglaries. Community members are urged to stay vigilant and proactive about safety and preparedness, highlighting the importance of being informed and engaged in local safety initiatives.
