Woman accused of kidnapping baby arrested in Federal Way
Quiana Marks, a 46-year-old Seattle woman, has been charged with second-degree kidnapping for allegedly abducting a 22-month-old child from the MARS Early Learning Academy. The abduction took place on March 28, shortly after a restraining order hearing that was not upheld by the court. Marks took the child, referred to as CV, and drove to Federal Way, where she abandoned both the baby and her vehicle at an O'Reilly's Auto Parts store. An AMBER Alert was issued after the incident, leading to Marks' arrest as she attempted to flee from police. Eyewitness accounts and security footage confirmed her identity and actions, while a loaded firearm was found near the abandoned child.
Fortunately, CV was found crying but unharmed. Marks is currently held at the Maleng Regional Justice Center with a bail set at $500,000, and her arraignment is scheduled for April 10. The case raises serious concerns about the effectiveness of restraining orders in protecting families from potential threats.
