WSP Will Be Measuring the Impacts of Emphasis Efforts in Everett

Everett, WALocal News

The Washington State Patrol (WSP) begins a traffic safety study on June 16, running through July 31, to assess the effectiveness of targeted enforcement in four regions of Washington state. This initiative aligns with the deployment of new Target Zero Trooper personnel, who aim to reduce fatal and serious injury collisions by addressing high-risk driving behaviors. The study leverages data from Michelin Mobility Intelligence to pinpoint locations with a high incidence of dangerous driving, particularly speeding. Dr. Staci Hoff highlights that the analysis will inform troopers about when and where high-risk behaviors are most prevalent.

The study aims not only to evaluate enforcement impacts but also to understand how such efforts influence driver behavior on surrounding roadways. WSP Chief John R. Batiste urges the public to engage in responsible driving to enhance roadway safety. The collaboration between WSP, the Traffic Safety Commission, and Michelin aims to create safer roads for all. This initiative reflects a broader commitment to improving traffic safety through data-driven strategies.
