Two Bodies Recovered from May Boating Incident
Two bodies were recovered from the Possession Sound boating incident on May 21, as confirmed by the Everett Police Department. The recovery operation involved multiple agencies, including the Innerspace Exploration Team, which helps families affected by drowning incidents. On May 31, divers and a remotely operated vehicle (ROV) searched the vessel found upside down at a depth of 165 feet. While the bodies of a male in his 60s and a female in her 40s were recovered, the boat owner's son, in his 20s, is still missing. Chief John DeRousse praised the collaboration among the Everett Police Marine Unit, Seattle Police Harbor Patrol, and other agencies for their commitment to the recovery mission.
The Snohomish County Medical Examiner’s Office received the recovered bodies for identification. The ultimate cause of the boating accident has yet to be determined, leaving the family of the missing individual in a state of uncertainty. This incident highlights the importance of marine safety and the need for effective emergency response measures.
