The Everett Silvertips signed Reid Nicol, the fifth-overall pick in the WHL draft, to a Scholarship and Development Agreement. Nicol, a 6-foot-2 center from Brandon, MB, expressed his enthusiasm for joining the well-respected organization. He had an impressive season with the Brandon Wheat Kings U18 AAA, scoring 35 goals and providing 23 assists in 48 games. Additionally, he contributed eight goals and six assists in nine playoff games, highlighting his potential as an impactful player. General manager Mike Fraser emphasized Nicol's offensive skills and ability to play a complete game, calling him an important asset for the team's future.

Since Nicol, at just 14 years old, played at the U18 level last season, he can participate in up to 34 regular season games in the WHL this year. His addition is a significant move for the Silvertips as they prepare for the upcoming season. Nicol's commitment ensures he will receive a WHL Scholarship for each year he plays in the league.
