One Injured in Early Morning Home Fire in Pinehurst Neighborhood

Everett, WALocal News

An apartment fire in Everett, Washington, early this morning resulted in burns for an adult male, who attempted to extinguish the flames after rescuing his dog. Firefighters arrived shortly after 2 a. m. and extinguished the fire within 20 minutes, preventing it from reaching the adjacent D&J Minimart. The man was initially treated at Providence Regional Medical Center before being transferred to Harborview Medical Center, where he remains in stable condition with burns covering 15% of his upper torso, arms, and face.

The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause, which may have stemmed from an improperly discarded cigarette. Firefighters urge the community to follow proper cigarette disposal practices to mitigate fire risks. They emphasize ensuring cigarettes are fully extinguished and using deep, sturdy ashtrays. Additionally, the fire department reminds residents to maintain working smoke alarms and have fire evacuation plans. These safety measures are crucial to prevent future incidents and ensure community safety.
