Fatality in South Forest Park Neighborhood Apartment Fire This Morning

A fire in a ground-floor apartment at Woodhaven Apartments in Everett resulted in a fatality this morning. At 8:25 a. m. , a neighbor alerted 911 after hearing a smoke alarm and smelling smoke. Fire crews arrived quickly and found an unresponsive male inside the unit, where they performed CPR but could not revive him.

They extinguished a small fire in the bedroom, preventing it from spreading to other units, and no residents were displaced. The Everett Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the fire's origin and cause, while the Everett Police Department handles the investigation regarding the man's death. This incident marks a tragic event in the South Forest Park neighborhood, highlighting the importance of fire safety measures. The Snohomish County Medical Examiner will confirm the deceased's identity and determine the cause and manner of death. Residents are reminded to check smoke alarms regularly to prevent such tragedies.
