Snohomish County Council Adopts Legislation to Address Nuisance RVs
The Snohomish County Council has enacted new legislation to tackle nuisance recreational vehicles (RVs) on public roadways, with a unanimous vote led by Councilmember Nate Nehring. The new ordinances impose a 72-hour parking limit for RVs, allowing for vehicle impoundment if not removed after this period. Nehring highlighted the law's importance in improving public safety and addressing ongoing community concerns related to derelict RVs, which have been linked to health risks and criminal activity. These regulations align the county's code with similar measures in neighboring cities, promoting consistency in enforcement across jurisdictions. Funding from the nuisance properties abatement fund will be allocated to implement these restrictions effectively.
Sheriff Susanna Johnson expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts to enhance neighborhood safety. The new policy will become effective within 10 days following the County Executive's signature, with law enforcement prepared to ensure clear communication and execution. This legislation represents a proactive approach to a persistent local issue, aiming to improve overall community welfare.
