Joe Hernandez and his volunteer group received recognition for their decade-long commitment to the Snohomish County Adopt-A-Road program during a ceremony on April 22. County Executive Dave Somers praised their dedication to community improvement, stating that the program exemplifies civic pride. Hernandez's group is one of four in the program that have volunteered for over ten years, contributing to the upkeep of local roadways. Since its inception in 2008, the program has paired volunteers with sections of unincorporated county roads, currently involving 43 groups managing 51 sections. Public Works Director Kelly Snyder emphasized the significance of the program as part of a broader strategy to address litter in the growing county.

The county's Litter Wranglers and Environmental Clean Up teams also contribute to maintaining the area's cleanliness. Due to increasing interest, eleven new sections in Lynnwood and Bothell are now open for adoption. For more information, residents can visit the Adopt-A-Road webpage.
