Everetts drinking water plant recognized as a top performer by Department of Health
The City of Everett's Water Filtration Plant (WFP) has been honored with a bronze-level Treatment Optimization Program award by the Washington State Department of Health for surpassing national drinking water treatment standards. This recognition underscores the plant's commitment to continuous improvement, having achieved optimized performance for three consecutive years. Operations superintendent Jeff Marrs credited the dedicated staff for their meticulous work in ensuring safe drinking water for the community. Mayor Cassie Franklin reinforced the city's pledge to invest in infrastructure that safeguards public health and provides reliable services. The WFP plays a vital role in serving approximately 670,000 residents in Snohomish County by delivering over 19 billion gallons of water each year.
With ongoing improvements set to enhance the facility, including upgrades to treatment processes and urgent replacements, the project is expected to reach completion by 2025. The Treatment Optimization Program aims to help utilities provide safer drinking water while enhancing resilience against natural disasters.
