A significant house fire occurred on September 10, 2024, in Everett, WA, prompting an urgent response from the Everett Fire Department. Firefighters arrived within four minutes of the initial 911 call, where they observed a substantial smoke column. They quickly initiated a search and deployed firefighting efforts, managing to extinguish the fire within 40 minutes. Fortunately, the homeowner and her dog evacuated safely, but one of her two cats tragically passed away despite attempts to revive it. The fire's cause is currently under investigation by the Everett Fire Marshal’s Office, emphasizing the importance of fire safety measures.

The event saw collaboration from Mukilteo Fire, Marysville Fire District, and local police for traffic control and utility management. The Red Cross also provided assistance to the displaced resident. This incident serves as a crucial reminder for residents to maintain and regularly test smoke alarms, which should be replaced every ten years.
