Pallet Shelter Opening in South Everett
In a bid to address homelessness, the Everett City Council approved $2. 79 million for a pallet shelter community, funded by COVID relief resources from ARPA. Located along Sievers Duecy Boulevard, the shelter will accommodate women and children, managed by Volunteers of America Western Washington. The facility is expected to open in December 2025 and will feature 20 pallets, two community buildings, and restroom facilities. Critics have expressed concerns regarding the shelter's location, highlighting the absence of essential services within walking distance.
This initiative represents the city's third pallet shelter and the second on city-owned land. Previously, the Everett Gospel Mission and Faith Lutheran Church hosted similar facilities. The pallet homes are produced by a local company called Pallet, headquartered in Everett. The shelter's operational period is limited to two years, emphasizing the city's ongoing efforts to tackle homelessness.
