City of Everett Budget Address

Everett, WALocal News

Mayor Cassie Franklin unveiled a balanced budget proposal for Everett on October 22, 2025, aimed at closing a $7. 9 million gap. This budget focuses on key community priorities such as public safety, quality of life, and economic growth. Franklin noted that Everett's non-general government operations are financially self-sufficient, which alleviates pressure on the general fund. Significant investments include the introduction of a “Drone as a First Responder” program and continued support for essential services like training for the Fire Department and funding for the Everett Public Library.

The mayor also highlighted the city's recent economic achievements, including the revitalization of the Everett Chamber of Commerce and plans to host a Fan Zone for the 2026 FIFA World Cup. These initiatives aim to enhance Everett's identity as a regional destination while creating jobs and stimulating the economy. Franklin called for ongoing community engagement to ensure that budget priorities align with residents' needs. She expressed gratitude to city staff and community members for their collaboration in shaping a stronger future for Everett.
